About

Ruth provides lively interactive talks and workshops on Jewish cultures and diversity, and bridging differences with Jewish values. Her unique approach reveals the "whys" behind the "ways" of cultural dynamics, Jewish culture as a culture, variations in nationalities, ethnicities, religious practice and more, for fascinating learning and positive connections among Jews.

Programs

1
Cultural Detective: Jewish Culture
As the old joke goes, "Two Jews, three opinions!" There may be more movements and ideas within Judaism than actual Jews in existence! In this interactive workshop, participants learn to be cultural detectives, examining differences that may divide Jews: ethnicity, religious practice, beliefs and more. Then we "solve the mystery" by bridging the differences with shared Jewish values.
2
Kvetching Cousins: Israelis and Americans
We have so much in common--how come we're always fighting? Israelis and American Jews DO have much in common, but they also have huge differences in communication styles, outlook on life, priorities, appropriate behavior and much more. Participants will develop ways to work together in Jewish schools and organizations, travel and volunteer programs, business--and even in their own families!

Booking Our Speakers

Weekday/Sunday programs are approximately one hour. Shabbat Scholar-in-Residence usually includes two talks, sometimes three.

Usually: The event price includes honorarium and all expenses, including international and domestic airfare and local expenses. We ask venues to provide home-hospitality for one night (for weekday/Sunday programs), or two nights (for Shabbat programs), or for multi-day programs, one night for each day of the event. If your venue is unable to provide home hospitality, an additional charge of $150 per night will be assessed to cover speaker expenses.

Need a special program for Shavuot, Holocaust Remembrence Day, or July 4th? We have suggestions.
