Programs

1
LGBTQ in the Talmud: What Our Sages’ Understanding of Gender Fluidity Means for Jews Today.
The question of gender identity and expression seem to be modern issues arising in Judaism. Yet the Talmud has already identified a broad spectrum of gender expression. Together we will study surprisingly innovative texts as we challenge what we thought were clear and distinct lines and explore new perspectives and ramifications for today's complex sexual communities.
2
Why We’re Losing Jews - and How to Re-Engage Them
In a world where we can choose everything, including living other than we are born, why would we choose our Judaism? More and more Jews walk away from what they perceive as being Jewish by guilt or obligation. But maybe the case for re-engagement with Judaism is because it makes our lives less stressful and more enjoyable.
3
The Angels That Follow Me Home
Angels are present everywhere in Jewish texts and history. But this view of angels is quite different from the popular view we find in western culture around us. This exploration of angels will include the different kinds of angels, how they function in our world and if they interact with us. Based on ancient texts, we unearth a surprising and thrilling reveal of angels through a Jewish lens.
4
When God’s Commandments Aren’t Mine: How Ancient Texts Can Sort Out Modern Dilemmas
Jews today live in a complex world of modernity and cultural complexities. Sometimes there appear to be challenges between strict Jewish values and a humanitarian modern approach. Explore how these two worlds can find a way to speak to each other and help us resolve conflicts and move toward growth.
