1
Divided over Dividing Jerusalem -- Who Stands Where, and Why?
Debates over Jerusalem have persisted since the UN plan for its internationalization failed in 1947. A myriad of plans have been proposed, ranging from dividing up its sovereignty to running it jointly under the sovereignty of God. Jerusalem is a complex of conflicting interests that make it hard to govern yet difficult to divide, but today both ends of the political spectrum may finally meet.

The Jewish State or the State of the Jews? It's Still Complicated
Herzl's famous book was entitled Der Judenstaat, the State of the Jews -- and not the Jewish State. What is the difference? It's still a source of argument, more than one hundred and twenty years after the book was published. The emergence of modern Zionism was a revolution in Jewish life, but the identity crisis continues, leading to changes in everything from i.d. cards to burial practices.

Booking Our Speakers

Weekday/Sunday programs are approximately one hour. Shabbat Scholar-in-Residence usually includes two talks, sometimes three.

Usually: The event price includes honorarium and all expenses, including international and domestic airfare and local expenses. We ask venues to provide home-hospitality for one night (for weekday/Sunday programs), or two nights (for Shabbat programs), or for multi-day programs, one night for each day of the event. If your venue is unable to provide home hospitality, an additional charge of $150 per night will be assessed to cover speaker expenses.

Need a special program for Shavuot, Holocaust Remembrence Day, or July 4th? We have suggestions.
