About

Everyone has a sacred story worth sharing. This is at the heart of meaning-making. Through Jewish Relationships Initiative's Conversations for Life and Legacy, R'David serves as a teacher and guide to the understanding of our journey and relationships throughout the arc of our lives. R'David led a Disaster Spiritual Care Team region of the Red Cross and the Association of Jewish Chaplains.

Programs

1
The Ethical Legacy Will- Jewish Wisdom Reimagined
Rabbi David reimagines the Jewish wisdom of the traditional Ethical Will to help us reflect on our life journey and share both our legacy and our values, and nurture relationships with loved ones while we are alive, rather than a posthumous document. We use texts, stories, and exercises to create a legacy worth sharing. This is available as a single presentation or as a scholar-in-residence.
2
Ukraine,Poland and the Jews- Our values and history in tension, Wrestling with the complicated
The brutal Russian war against Ukraine forces us to grapple with our genetic memory, a history characterized by anti-Semitism. In the Midbar, we coalesced around Torah and peoplehood. Core values were shaped and tested then, and they are tested now. Can we help the war victims hoping this marks a new beginning together, or will Jew Hatred return once the crisis subsides? How do we answer the call?
3
Dream Chaser or Dream Dasher: What happens when your child’s dream is not yours?
We are filled with dreams and aspirations for our children, including success, Chuppah, children (grandchildren), and identity. These often mean different things for the child and parent, creating disappointment or tension. We will discover shared core values through texts, conversations, and exercises to help connect and nurture the parent-child relationship.
4
Resiliency- The Art of Self Care
Saving others without drowning~ Wisdom Learned as a Lifeguard and as a Rabbi. Come with me on an exploration of how we can remain resilient, maintaining our wellbeing in order to be fully present and serve others. This unique mash-up of Jewish Wisdom and training in Disaster Response from the Red Cross is a great way to keep your head above water.
5
Other Programs and talks in the Conversations for Life and Legacy Series:
1~*FORGIVENESS "V'Ahavta L'Reicha Kamocha, Love your neighbor as yourself." What does it mean to forgive? How does forgiveness help us heal and move forward? 2~*GLEANINGS OF A WANDERING JEW A personal perspective from my travels on Jewish History. How do we understand this moment in our history? How do we grapple with Anti-Semitism?

I have known Rabbi David Levin as a colleague and friend, and someone with whom I have collaborated professionally bringing “Jewish Death Awareness Education” programs to synagogues. David is a committed and competent teacher. He is able to provide valuable ways of seeing the depth dimensions of Jewish tradition. I offer my full endorsement of Rabbi David Levin as a teacher and workshop leader.

— Reb Simcha Raphael, Founder and Director, Da'at Institute, Philadelphia, PA

Rabbi Levin worked very well with our adult learners. He is a skilled and caring speaker and he really takes an interest in the students. Our students appreciated his perspective and I would love to invite him to teach in our congregation in the future.

— Michelle Pearlman, Rabbi, Beth Chaim, Malvern, PA

Rabbi Levin (worked) with staff and lay leaders to create a program tailored to fit the needs of our adult education community. Rabbi Levin brings years of expertise in end of life issues and is incredibly thoughtful in how he prepares for these programs. Adult learners were engaged and enlightened (by) activities to get to core values they want to pass along to the next generation.

— Eli Freedman, Rabbi, Rodeph Shalom, Philadelphia, PA

The opportunity to work with Rabbi David Levin and to bring real expertise to bear on this core component of the life of our congregation is a tremendous gift.

— David Ackerman, Rabbi, Congregation Beth Am Israel, Penn Valley, PA

Rabbi David Levin's program was quite educational and empowering. A few people came up to me afterward and commented that they would like their daughters or sons to have the opportunity to see a presentation of this type.
