Programs

1
The Language of Inclusion “Creating a New Mindset”
The language we use colors and defines our perceptions and assumptions. Focus on the power of learning and using inclusive language. Find out how a new mindset can create greater comfort when coming into contact with people who have disabilities, as well as when considering their needs within the greater community.
2
Creating change in Israel - It’s not all about politics.
Israel is the NPO start-up nation in the Jewish world. I came. I saw. I initiated. Creating social change in Israel. How can Aliya stimulate your desire to do something different. Come with your ideas for new projects in Israel. Hear a first-hand story of identifying a need and developing a non-profit, social start up in Israel as an Oleh.
3
I belong, or don't I? Let's talk about difference
PLEASE NOTE: This activity-based workshop is intended for 11-13 year olds. Finding your place in the Jewish community as well as beyond is complicated. What if you feel different, or are different physically and/or cognitively than your peers? Complicated, right? Explore through role playing and activities how you feel about this important issue and how you can help change attitudes.
4
Did You Just Call Me That?
Labels and language. It’s the stuff of our everyday communication. How we label, define, and poke fun at the world around us and ourselves. Let’s rip off those labels-of-preconception and see every person as a human being, not a word or label. Explore what’s up with the language we use, and how contemporary disability activism and community events like the “SlutWalk” are helping shift mindsets.

Booking Our Speakers

Weekday/Sunday programs are approximately one hour. Shabbat Scholar-in-Residence usually includes two talks, sometimes three.

Usually: The event price includes honorarium and all expenses, including international and domestic airfare and local expenses. We ask venues to provide home-hospitality for one night (for weekday/Sunday programs), or two nights (for Shabbat programs), or for multi-day programs, one night for each day of the event. If your venue is unable to provide home hospitality, an additional charge of $150 per night will be assessed to cover speaker expenses.

Need a special program for Shavuot, Holocaust Remembrence Day, or July 4th? We have suggestions.
