Sonia Levitin is the author of dozens of famous Jewish children's books, and recipient of many awards, including the National Jewish Book Award. She is also an artist and producer.

About

Sonia Levitin is an author, artist, playwright, and social activist, often using the novel as a form of inter-cultural understanding. “As a Holocaust survivor, I want to be a bridge between peoples.” Her books include mysteries, historical novels and current affairs. She has been honored with the Pen Award, National Jewish Book Award, Sydney Taylor Award, and the German Catholic Bishops Award.

Memoirs of a Child Survivor
Sonia Levitin, Holocaust survivor and award winning author speaks about her family’s escape from Nazi Germany, from her mother’s courageous escape plan, to immigrant life in America. She defines the steps of persecution and genocide, to make the cry, “Never Again,” a reality. Her novel, JOURNEY TO AMERICA, won the National Jewish Book Award, and celebrates 50 years in print in 2020.

The Good Fight Of The Artist
Resist the war against creativity! Sonia Levitin discusses how creative people can flourish despite the many obstacles they face--criticism, competition, procrastination, fear of failure, lack of time . Sonia, a lifelong writing teacher, inspires and encourages the artistic soul , drawing on her own experience from decades of teaching, writing, producing and painting.

THE GAME OF AGING: By one who is living it.
Aging is fraught with new and perplexing challenges. Drawing on personal experience and published data, Sonia discusses health, life style changes, care giving, care facilities, elder abuse, scam artists, conserving your money, societal attitude toward old people, finding new paths to continuing vitality. At age 88, this dynamic speaker lives the purposeful life she proposes.

Caring for a spouse with dementia poses difficult demands on everyone. The needs of the stricken person can consume all the resources and energy of the family. Booking Our Speakers

Weekday/Sunday programs are approximately one hour. Shabbat Scholar-in-Residence usually includes two talks, sometimes three.

Usually: The event price includes honorarium and all expenses, including international and domestic airfare and local expenses. We ask venues to provide home-hospitality for one night (for weekday/Sunday programs), or two nights (for Shabbat programs), or for multi-day programs, one night for each day of the event. If your venue is unable to provide home hospitality, an additional charge of $150 per night will be assessed to cover speaker expenses.
