Programs

1
Let’s Talk: 5 strategies for talking across the divide
While engaging in honest, face to face dialogue on conflictual issues has always been difficult, it seems to be even more challenging in these politically charged times and in light of the ever-increasing influence of social media. This interactive session will present a tool-kit for overcoming these challenges – whether at the Thanksgiving dinner table, in the synagogue or on campus.
2
Holy War or Holy Peace: Interreligious Relations in Israel Today
The location of holy sites for the world’s three monotheistic religions, the Holy Land is combustible. Furthermore, violence is often conducted in the name of deeply held beliefs and faith traditions. Is religion the source and trigger of conflict or can religion represent a path to peace? This presentation will discuss interreligious relations and understanding as a tool for peacebuilding.
3
“Love and Peace will Meet, Truth and Justice will Kiss” (Psalm 85): Healing Hatred in the Holy Land
This is an interactive workshop combining text study with a more practical look at reconciliation processes, and how they might be relevant to the realities on the ground in Israel and globally today. What can we learn from this verse about peace-building in the real world?
4
Women and Peacebuilding
Would we still have wars if women ruled the world? Are women inherently more peaceful than men? Building on years of experience in the field, as well as academic work on the theme, we will discuss women's role in peacebuilding and how women can best work for peace, including an examination of various peace initiatives spearheaded by women in Israel.
5
The Star and the Cross: Israel and the Christians of the Holy Land
Who are the Christian communities in the Holy Land? Why is Jewish-Christian dialogue in Israel so different from Jewish-Christian dialogue in the West? Beyond providing a fascinating overview, we will discuss Israel’s complicated relationship with her Christian minorities.
