Programs

1
Antisemitism in America: A Historical Perspective
While the US is often seen as unique with no tradition of antisemitism, discrimination against Jews has long been a part of its history. Restrictive immigration and Ivy League quotas are some examples. Post-WWII, antisemitism declined, and Jews appeared fully integrated, making the recent resurgence of antisemitism from both political sides perplexing and concerning.
2
America and Israel: a Historic Perspective and a Look Forward
The US played a key role in Israel's establishment. Relations were strained under Eisenhower but improved with Kennedy's support. After the Six-Day War, the U.S. became Israel's main arms supplier, providing significant military assistance despite occasional policy disagreements. The Gaza War showed unwavering U.S. support, but policy divergences hint at challenges in this complex relationship.
3
Israel in the 21st Century
Before October 7th, 2023, this lecture would have focused on Israel's high-tech economy, societal divides, and judicial reform. Now, I will discuss how complacency emerged from a belief in strength, defense, and the notion that antisemitism was a thing of the past. From the Rabin Assassination to the Gaza War, the lecture aims to contextualize and understand the larger themes of the century.
