An award-winning journalist and former Editor-in-Chief of Jerusalem Report, Eetta is Israel Editor of Moment Magazine and regular contributor to Foreign Policy, Haaretz, TIME and other prominent publications. She is a member of The Dinah Project, for recognition and justice for victims of October 7th and a research program at Van Leer Institute and has taught at Hebrew and Brandeis Universities.

Putting Evil on Trial: Seeking Justice for Victims of October 7th

A response to Holocaust, the Nuremburg Trials laid the foundation for International Humanitarian Law. However, today, these laws are inadequate for prosecution of crimes of Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV). I will discuss why we must adopt new social and legal paradigms to prosecute the Hamas terrorists of October 7th, 2023 and other perpetrators of CRSV, and the role of world Jewry.

n these times of "fake news" and anti-Israel media, is journalistic objectivity possible? After October 7th, is it even desirable? How do identity, politics, ideology and lived experience affect reporting and our writing? I will discuss how my commitments and identities affect my and others' reporting and what you can do to achieve better quality reporting from Israel and the world,

Is Justice Universal: Reporting from a UN Feminist Conference

After October 7th, many international feminists and UN organizations were silent. Recently, as a member of the Dinah Project (www.thedinahproject.org), I attended the UN Commission of the Status of Women conference and met UN officials and international human rights activists. I will describe both encouraging interactions and explanations for the selective morality and betrayal of Israeli women.

Order in the Court? Israel’s Judicial Upheaval

The government coalition is once-again attempting to push-through its “judicial reform,” which were the major source of unprecedented political unrest before October 7th. What changes are being proposed, and why are they so controversial? Are they indeed merely reforms – or steps on the slippery slope towards illiberalism? And what can the world Jewish community do?
